As we approach the summer season, Thornton Heath Community Action Team (THCAT) is considering whether to continue our annual In Bloom competition. We take great pride in this event, which gives residents, schools, groups and businesses in Thornton Heath, Bensham Manor and West Thornton the chance to show off their gardening skills.
In case you are not familiar with Thornton Heath In Bloom, it’s a fun competition where participants can showcase their front gardens, concrete spaces, and planters/tree pits. There are various categories with 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes awarded in each.
We’ve been organising this competition for seven years now, and it’s been a fantastic way to bring the community together, promote gardening and encourage people to take pride in their local area.
We would love to hear your thoughts on whether you’d like the Thornton Heath In Bloom competition to continue this year. If you are interested in participating (it’s the taking part that counts, as they say!) or know someone else who is, please do let us know by dropping us a quick email by Friday 15th March: action@thorntonheath.net
We’re looking for a minimum of 50 entrants, so please help spread the word. If there’s enough interest, we will be holding the judging in mid to late July.
We’re also looking for volunteers to help with the organisation of the competition, the judging, and to lend a hand at the award ceremony. If you’re interested in volunteering, please let us know via email too: action@thorntonheath.net
Thanks so much for your support!
