Winners of Thornton Heath In Bloom 2022

It was a full house at last night’s Thornton Heath’s in Bloom as we announced the winners in the Thornton Heath Community Action Team’s 2022 awards.

It was lovely to see so many of those who had entered along with supporters attend the awards ceremony at St Andrew’s Church hall.

We heard from the judges Anpu Sivokumaran, Cynthia Maxwell and Graham Mitchell about how they had come about their decisions inspired by not just aesthetics but also water conservation and planting for bees and butterflies.

There were certificates for all the winners and engraved salvers for first prize along with an array of prizes kindly donated by Pizza Time on Beulah Road, ASKI on Brigstock Road, YBR Cake and Tropical Fayre shop.

We would especially like to thank two members of THCAT Laurence William Philip Gough and Cassandra who generously donated over £200 towards B&Q vouchers for our winners.

All our generous donors deserve a big round of applause. Here are a few pictures from the awards of the first prize winners and the winning gardens/planters.

Cabinet lead for streets and the environment Cllr Scott Roche was due to present the awards but he was also unable to attend because of COVID but sent a statement which was read out.

Sadly organiser Linda Watson was also unwell and Tilly Pollard, who did an amazing job promoting this year’s In Bloom, were both unable to attend the ceremony.

Thanks goes to them both, along with our three judges, THCAT committee members Barbara Benjamin and Gaetane Jones who organised the refreshments and catering and finally Averil Coutinho for doing the admin for this year’s event!

Andrea Perry, THCAT Chair

A colossal THANK YOU and well done to each and every person who entered Thornton Heath In Bloom 2022.
