Replanting empty tree pits in Thornton Heath

Averil and Linda recently met with Richard Edwards, trees and woodland officer for Croydon. He has applied for several different grants for trees including one for streets with no trees or tree pits  in Thornton Heath, and another for streets with empty tree pits.

He said it would be very helpful if we could provide a list of streets in the three Thornton Heath wards with empty tree pits, including those with tarmac in them. Grants will likely cover the cost of replacing up to 100 trees in the area.

So, if you have five or more empty pits on your street, please contact Linda (action@thortonheath.net) by 31th August 2023 with the street name.

She’ll let you know if the street has already been counted.

Please note, not every street submitted will necessarily be planted, but it’s definitely worth trying.
